So Xanana will head a new ministry in the government. And if the name of his new portfolio is any clue, Xanana will be overseeing some serious investments as the minister for planning and strategic investment.
But why not just lead one of the existing ministries? Especially defense or security/interior.
Maybe Charles Scheiner of La'u Hamutuk knows just why: money.
"He knows where the money is. The parts that he has got seems to be the agencies that have the most control over the country's money," Charles told Reuters.
