Timor Post (12/05) is reporting that the prime minister, Xanana Gusmão, publicly called Jorge Teme, the minister for state administration a 'liar' and hurled a bottle of water against another member of his government, Januario Pereira, the secretary of state in charge of electricity.
Teme, who is also committee president responsible preparations for the up-coming ceremony to unveil a statue of the late Nicolau Lobato in the Lafatik Roundabout, had a scheduled meeting with the PM at the site. However, according to Timor Post, Teme simply forgot about the said meeting prompting the PM's rebuke. The PM was reported to have said about Teme:
In the meantime, Timor Post continues with another report on how the PM abused one of his secretaries of state. Apparently the PM had set up barricades around the Lafatik roudabout (I may need to stress that yes, the PM sets up the barricades himself). However the secretary of state, Januario Pereira, decided to rearrange the barricades without the PM's knowledge. It didn't go down well for the PM. A bottle of water and scolds were hurled in his direction and Timor Post quotes PM Xanana:
Timor-Leste is preparing for a number of important events, on top of the PM's planned resignation. On the 20th May the government will unveil a statue of the late Nicolau Lobato at the Lafatik Roundabout in Comoro. A major meeting of the members of CPLP is also scheduled to take place in Dili later in the year.

However, according to Timor Post, Teme simply forgot about the said meeting prompting the PM's rebuke. The PM was reported to have said about Teme:
"This minister Teme is all talk. He said the city of Dili is now finished (with the clean-up operation). But on my way here (Lafatik), it is still dirty. He said last night he would be here first with the xefe suku of Comoro before I get here. But the sun is already up high and he's not here."
"Ministru Teme ne'e garganta de'it, dehan sidade Dili mós hotu ona, maibé ha'u tesik mai to'o iha ne'e (Lafatik), fo'er nafatin. Horikalan Kinta (7/5) dehan katak nia (Teme) mai uluk ho xefe suco Komoro molok ha'u to'o, maibé loron manas tiha ona nia (Teme) seidauk mai."Teme showed up an hour later and tried to provide justification to the PM. The PM ignored him. In an attempt to explain his situation to the journalists, Teme said:
The prime minister is also a head of the government who controls everything, so this is normal, because we are all humans.
"Primeiru Ministru hanesan mos Xefi do Governu atu kontrola buat hot-hotu, ne'ebé normal, tanba ita ne'e ema."(Presumably what Teme meant was that it's normal for the PM to be angry because he is only human and he has a lot of work to do because he controls everything.)

"Hooooooooii Januario. What are you doing. I have already fixed it. Don't touch them."
"Hooooooooii Januario, o halo saida mak ne'e, ha'u hadi'a tiha ona, labele ba book."Later on, an angry PM also made officers from PNTL, CSP (police unit which provides close security protection for ministers), drivers and other members of his government to line up near the roundabout and under the sun for an hour

This type of immaturity really detracts from the positive things that have been going on. Punctuality has never been seen as a virtue with the majority of Timorese, but rather than chastise a member of Government in public (and thus undermining him) he should invoke financial disciplinary measures. That will surely wake them up as money seems to be the biggest motivator, rather than the love of the people.
